My husband and I purchased our first one-acre property in the Sierra Nevada foothills in the late summer of 2023. Having both grown up in the Bay Area, we were not keen on living in close proximity to other people, and wanted the tranquility and relaxed vibes of forest living. Our property sits perfectly high enough in elevation that we are able to get snow, but also not have to deal with the repercussions of major snowfall. This winter, we were ecstatic to have not one, but three snowstorms in the span of two months. The atmospheric river that hit California in early February was an added bonus. We received almost 6 inches of snow during that storm. Here are some of my favorite photos of Newt enjoying the winter storms on our property!
