I had the honor to do my friend Savannah’s graduation photoshoot this past May. I first met Savannah when she joined my volunteering shift at the UC Davis California Raptor Center last year. We shared a deep appreciation for birds of prey and quickly became friends the more we chatted.
Fast forward to 2024, and Savannah is already graduating from undergrad. Not only that, but she and her boyfriend also recently welcomed a new member to their family, the handsome Akita named Apollo. My husband and I had the pleasure to train Apollo for a few sessions as well!
Savannah will be pursuing novel adventures and a new job opportunity as a zookeeper in the state of Oregon starting in June. I wish her nothing but the best as she transitions to her new chapter of life!
Savannah’s graduation shoot has to be the most unique photoshoot I’ve ever done. Over the span of three separate days, I captured shots of her not only by herself, but also of her interacting with some of the horses that participate in the Guardian Angel program at the UC Davis Equestrian Center, her dog Apollo, and Grasshopper the Swainson’s Hawk, who is one of the sweetest educational ambassadors at the California Raptor Center. In total, I captured easily over 100 photos, narrowed it down to 70 beautiful shots, and will be sharing my top 25 favorite photos in this blog post.
